At Kilele House, you can relax and enjoy the sea breeze, delicious meals from the chef, and indulge in massages or private yoga sessions, all available upon request for an additional fee. Built in 2022 on a hill behind a pristine 12-kilometer beach, the villa offers a variety of beach activities like sailing, swimming, snorkeling, windsurfing, wakeboarding, waterskiing, and fishing, all available upon advance reservation for extra fees.
You can easily reach the beach or village with a Polaris car (not allowed in the village, where only donkeys and pedestrians are permitted). We can assist in arranging activities, tours, and transportation, such as a guided visit to Lamu Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, or cultural experiences in Shela Village, like cooking classes. The village has a welcoming atmosphere, and the locals are friendly. The Polaris car can be used to explore the area or enjoy a beach picnic, provided it is in working condition.
Shela Village, located on Lamu Island, is a charming and peaceful coastal village known for its rich Swahili culture and laid-back atmosphere. With its narrow winding streets, beautiful white sand beaches, and traditional coral stone houses, Shela offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life.
The house is located on the dunes of Shela Village. To reach the dunes of Shela Village, start by arriving in Lamu town, which is accessible by boat from the mainland or by air through Lamu Airport. Once in Lamu, head to Shela Village, which is about a 20-30 minute walk or a short ride from Lamu town. The path to the dunes from Shela Village is a scenic walk through the village’s quiet streets and along the coast. The dunes are located just a short distance behind Shela’s beautiful beaches, offering stunning views of the surrounding area. You can also reach the dunes by boat or by using a local transport option, like a donkey, which is commonly used in Shela.
