Perched at tree-top height to take advantage of the sea breeze, this lodge spans approximately 3,300 square feet and offers beautiful ocean views. It includes three spacious en-suite bedrooms and an open-concept kitchen and dining area. At the top, on the third floor, there’s a rooftop terrace designed for relaxation, complete with a private plunge pool.
Your journey to the Kenyan coast begins in Nairobi, either from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) or the smaller, centrally located Wilson Airport. Both airports offer daily direct flights to Malindi Airport, with a flight time of just over an hour. As the plane ascends, the cityscape of Nairobi fades into view, giving way to stunning aerial views of the Great Rift Valley, rolling hills, and eventually the golden sands of the coastline.
You’ll arrive at Malindi Airport, a small, friendly airport that welcomes you with warm coastal air and a slower, more relaxed pace.
Outside the airport, local taxis and hotel transfer services are readily available. The drive from Malindi to Watamu takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes, winding along a scenic coastal road lined with palms, small shops, and glimpses of the Indian Ocean through the trees.
As you approach Watamu, the air grows richer with the scent of sea salt and tropical blooms. Finally, you arrive at Medina Palms, tucked away on Watamu’s tranquil coastline.
